Radio for the Community

Casa Scalabrini 634 has a web radio with all the necessary tools to create content and programs that tell the stories of migrants living in the house, but we want it to increasingly become a community space. Casa Scalabrini 634 is located in the most multicultural and multi-ethnic neighbourhood of Rome.

What do we need?

The challenge is to turn the radio into a tool for the community while maintaining the original goal of the house, which is to show how diversity is a source of richness, especially in the context of migration. It’s also essential to figure out how to involve volunteers more and more.

  • Innovation of the solution: Does the proposal offer new ideas or approaches to engage the community and volunteers? How creatively does it use technology to reduce the gap and promote inclusion?
  • Technical feasibility: Is the proposed solution technically feasible? Does it consider existing tools and the possibility of implementing new technologies?
  • Sustainability: Can the proposal be sustained in the long term, both financially and logistically? Are there models for ongoing community and volunteer engagement?
  • Social impact: Does the solution have the potential to promote integration and social cohesion? Does it succeed in maintaining and reinforcing the message of diversity as a source of richness?
  • Accessibility: To what extent does the proposal consider the needs of the local community, including those with less access to technology? How does it practically address the digital divide?
  • Community engagement: Does the proposal include concrete strategies to engage volunteers and community members in both the short and long term? How does it promote active participation?
  • Scalability: Can the model be replicated in other contexts or expanded in the future to include more people or organisations?
  • Evaluation of results: Are there tools in place to monitor and measure the effectiveness of the proposed solution over time? How will success be evaluated?
