National University of Science and Technology Politehnica Bucharest (UNSTPB) is a publicly funded higher education institution founded in 1818 being the oldest and the largest technical university in Romania. UPB‘s foremost mission is engineering training at all levels (B.SC, M.SC, Ph.D.). At the same time, UPB is not only a transmitter but also a creator of science and technology. UPB consists in 15 Faculties, 2 Departments, 43 R&D centers, 2.738 academic and 1.261 non-academic staff, 22.771 undergraduate and 4.643 postgraduate students.

The ETIG – E&T Innovation Group promotes the European principles and values in the field of education through innovative approaches and technologies. ETIG‘s mission is centered on promoting innovation within E&T systems with special regards to technology-enhanced teaching and learning and social responsibility. ETIG develops research projects at regional, national, and European level in the following areas: distance learning technologies, virtual mobility within higher education, university social responsibility benchmarking and implementation/improvement strategies, observation of education systems, policies and innovation, adaptive hypermedia, and intelligent tutoring systems, production of eLearning content and software.

The Department of Teacher Education and Social Sciences comprises Romania’s largest academic environment within STEM teacher education. The Department offers initial and continuous profession-oriented bachelor’s and master’s programs. In addition, it has a broad portfolio of in-service education options for teachers and school administrators. The focus of the staff’s work and research is geared towards schools, classrooms, and workplaces. The research activity contributes to developing national and international knowledge about lifelong learning and education.
