Zagreb Library Association
The Zagreb Library Association (ZLA) is a regional professional association that gathers library professionals from the City of Zagreb and the Zagreb County area. The purpose, goals, and activities of the Association are to contribute to professional education, monitor, examine, and address any professional issues, and provide suggestions for promoting library activities. Its purpose also includes encouraging the founding and development of all types of libraries, while fostering society’s interest in books and libraries. The Association participates in the creation and execution of library policies and advocates for the social and economic status of library employees.

One of these groups is the ZKD Bicyclists, a group of enthusiastic librarians, members of the Zagreb Library Association, who have combined their passion for cycling and libraries. By proactively stepping out into public spaces, these librarians aim to introduce the public to the opportunities offered by this noble profession and to become more visible and recognizable. Additionally, they seek to expand communication with users in order to improve services even further.
The goal of the ZKD Bicyclists is to create initiatives that advocate for outdoor activities while raising awareness of libraries and librarians in the eyes of the public. Another group is the New Information Professionals (NIP), launched in 2021 as part of the Zagreb Library Association. It is modeled after global and regional groups like the IFLA New Professionals Special Interest Group. NIP brings together librarians from various libraries, with diverse roles and years of experience, as well as students in their final years of studying librarianship. The goal of the working group is to contribute to the progress and development of the profession through fresh perspectives and ideas. Their motto is The Missing Part.
